Costumer groups

Our customer groups in business development are founders, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as well as larger companies. Universities and research organisations also belong to these customer groups. We also offer special products and programmes for companies in difficulty.

  • Founders are individuals who want to start up their own business or whose company has been on the market for no more than three or five years.

  • Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are companies that generate sales of no more than EUR 50m or a balance-sheet sum of up to EUR 43m and have up to 250 employees.

  • Larger companies are companies that generate annual sales in excess of EUR 50m and employ a staff of more than 250.

  • These are, for instance, universities, universities of applied sciences and non-university publicly funded research institutes in Berlin.

  • A company is considered to be in difficulty when it is no longer able to stem losses with its own funds or borrowed funds and will almost certainly experience its economic downfall in the short to medium term if the government does not intervene.
