Who we are

As the business development bank of the Federal State of Berlin, we work every day to make our city an even better place to live.

Our support programmes are helping the business sector to create sustainable jobs for the future. We also promote affordable housing in our growing city.

We are part of the IBB Group

IBB’s owner and sole shareholder is IBB Unternehmensverwaltung AöR (IBB UV), which is wholly owned by the Federal State of Berlin.

IBB Law and IBB’s memorandum and articles of association

IBB is an institution incorporated under public law. The bank operates in accordance with the Investitionsbank Law (IBBG, Investitionsbankgesetz) and IBB’s memorandum and articles of association.

IBB’s executive bodies

Our tasks and powers are derived from the Investitionsbank Law (IBBG) and from the memorandum and articles of association which form the basis for both IBB’s organisational structure and its executive bodies.

Compliance and external Ombuds Office

IBB persistently implements the legal and regulatory requirements of various national and European laws and regulations.

History of IBB

The history of Investitionsbank Berlin is closely linked to the history of Berlin. The company’s history spans from the overcoming of housing shortages in the 1920s to measures designed to compensate for structural shortcomings after German reunification to financial business support measures in the 21st century.
