IBB Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH (wholly owned)
IBB Beteiligungsgesellschaft was established in 1997 in order to strengthen the equity basis of young, innovative technology companies in Berlin. Since its establishment, IBB Beteiligungsgesellschaft and consortium members provided venture capital totalling €400m – mainly in the technology fields of information and communication technologies, life science and factory automation. IBB Beteiligungsgesellschaft is also in charge of VC Fonds Berlin.
VC Fonds Berlin GmbH (wholly owned)
On behalf of the Federal Land of Berlin, Investitionsbank Berlin established VC Fonds Berlin in 2004 and equipped this with funds from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). VC Fonds Berlin contributes towards ensuring adequate fund supplies for technology-orientated, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with growth potential and to motivate further private investors to join in. The legal sponsor of VC Fonds Berlin is VC Fonds Berlin GmbH. Its operative business is managed by IBB Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH.
IBB-Holding GmbH (wholly owned)
IBB-Holding GmbH has been in operation since 2006. The business of this holding company is the acquisition, management and sale of companies and shareholdings. Furthermore, the holding performs management and business sector-spanning tasks for its affiliates.
TCC Technology-Coaching-Center GmbH (wholly owned)
Established in 1997 by Deutsche Ausgleichsbank (DtA) and Investitionsbank Berlin as a joint project, TCC became an independent legal entity (GmbH) in 1999. TCC Technologie-Coaching-Center GmbH is the consulting and support centre for technology-orientated start-ups and young businesses in Berlin. The portfolio of TCC GmbH includes financing consultancy services as well as development, production and marketing consultancy services for products and services as well as the performance of seminars.
ipal Gesellschaft für Patentverwertung Berlin mbH (49.50 share)
Established in 2001 by Berlin-based universities and IBB with the task of marketing inventions and know-how, ipal GmbH examines the patent capabilities and exploitation potential of technological developments. It ensures adequate protection of industrial property rights and strives to ensure the timely marketing of innovations.
IBB Technologie-Entwicklungs-Fonds GmbH & Co. KG (TEF)
The IBB technology and development fund promotes the development and commercialization of invention from Berlin’s universities and polytechnics. Its goal is to bridge the gap between any obstacles in that way of an invention’s applicability and a precisely targeted further development in the interest of commercial success. Inventions from universities and polytechnics are guided by ipal in Berlin. ipal is also active in the search and selection of projects that are suitable for the fund’s concept.

Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg GmbH (50% share)
Since 2004, Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg GmbH has been home to film subsidy and support programmes with location development work for the film industry of the Federal Laender of Berlin and Brandenburg under one roof. Investitionsbank Berlin is one of the shareholders of Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg GmbH, together with Investitionsbank des Landes Brandenburg.
Berlin Partner GmbH (45% share)
Since 2005, Berlin Partner GmbH has been bundling capital city marketing, foreign trade consultancy services and business location programmes under one common roof. Wirtschaftsförderung Berlin (WfB), Partner für Berlin (PfB) and Berliner Absatz-Organisation (BAO) were merged for this purpose in recent years.
Berlin Tourismus Marketing GmbH (25% share)
Since 1993, Berlin Tourismus Marketing GmbH (BTM) has been responsible for advertising the Federal Land of Berlin as a tourist destination. With annual gross sales of around €6bn, tourism is an important economic factor for Berlin. 170,000 jobs in Berlin depend on tourism.
