IBB's social commitment

In its capacity as the subsidy bank, Investitionsbank Berlin (IBB) actively supports the development of business in Berlin. Against this background, our social commitment focuses on areas like innovation and business start-ups because these are closely linked to IBB's subsidy and support mission. In this area, we attach particular importance to linking diversity, innovation and start-up support and support the gender mainstreaming policy of the Federal Land of Berlin.

Deutsche Gründer- und Unternehmertage (DeGUT) – German Founders' and Entrepreneurs' Days

People starting up in business belong to the most important customers of Investitionsbank Berlin. We therefore support the DeGuT (Deutsche Gründer- und UnternehmerTage – German Founders' and Entrepreneurs' Days) event as Germany's largest contact and congress event for self-employment and start-ups. DeGuT not only offers our customers comprehensive information and consultancy services concerning the products of Investitionsbank Berlin, but also the possibility to learn a lot about starting up in business and company management in seminars, workshops and forums.

Berliner Unternehmerinnentag

Together with the Senate Department for Business, Technology and Women, Investitionsbank Berlin organises the Berliner Unternehmerinnentag every two years which specifically addresses female entrepreneurs and founders. This event is designed to encourage women to take the first steps towards self-employment and it contributes towards supporting female entrepreneurs in establishing networks.

Seminar series for people starting up in business with an immigration background

In co-operation with the Senate Department for Business, Technology and Women, Investitionsbank Berlin organises seminars and advisory events every year for people starting up in business with an immigration background. The most important aim of these events is to promote more and, above all, better-qualified people of non-German origin starting up in business.

Berlin-Brandenburg Innovation Award

Investitionsbank Berlin sponsors the Berlin-Brandenburg Innovation Award. This prize worth €10,000 is awarded for outstanding product, process and service innovations and has become an established brand for effective innovation support with a correspondingly high public awareness. The Berlin-Brandenburg Innovation Award is a support instrument for innovation processes and small and medium-sized enterprises that is designed to

  • support businesses in the implementation of innovation
  • strengthen the networking of innovative businesses
  • promote the Berlin-Brandenburg economic area
  • demonstrate the performance capabilities of the location on a supraregional and international level.

Support for Berlin's artist scene

In Berlin where it is based, Investitionsbank Berlin is located amidst a wealth of cultural and artistic offers. Berlin's artistic and cultural landscape attracts people from all over the world to Berlin. This is hence also a location and business factor which we are determined to protect and promote. We therefore support not just the above-mentioned sectors, but also Berlin's artistic scene with regular vernissages, exhibitions and competitions.
